# Use Google Calendar on your Android phone or iPhone

The Google Calendar app shows the same events as your computer. Anything you add on one shows on the other.

## Install the app & sign in

Use your Google Workspace email address, not a personal Gmail address.

- **Android**: open the **Google Play Store**, find **Google Calendar**, tap **Install**, then open the app and sign in.
- **iPhone**: open the **App Store**, find **Google Calendar**, tap **Get**, then open the app and sign in.

## Create an event on your phone

Guests get an email invitation, just as from a computer.

1. Tap **Create** (the **+** button at the bottom right), then **Event**.

2. Add a title and set the date and time.
3. Add guests by name or email address. A Google Meet link is added for work accounts when you invite people; if not, tap **Add video conferencing**.

4. Tap **Save**.

You can also tap **Create** > **Out of office** to block out leave.

## If events are not showing

Try these checks in order on the phone that has the problem.

1. Check that Wi-Fi or mobile data is on and the phone is not in aeroplane mode.
2. Update the Google Calendar app from the Play Store or App Store.
3. Tap the **Menu** icon at the top left and make sure the box next to the calendar is ticked.

4. When you create an event, check at the top that it is going to your work calendar, not a calendar on the phone only.
5. **Android**: open the phone's **Settings** app, tap **Passwords, passkeys & accounts**, pick your work account, tap **Account sync** and make sure **Calendar** is on. Menu names vary by phone brand.
6. **iPhone**: in the Calendar app, tap your profile photo, then **Manage accounts on this device**, remove your account and add it again.

## Common issues

### My colleague shared their calendar, but it is not in the app. Why?

You cannot add a shared calendar in the phone app. Add it once in Google Calendar on a computer, then it appears in the app. See share & view calendars (/calendar-share/).

### Old events from years ago are missing on my phone. Are they deleted?

No. The Calendar app only syncs past events from the last year. Older events are still there at calendar.google.com (https://calendar.google.com).

### Can I use the iPhone's own Calendar app instead?

Yes, you can add your Google account to Apple Calendar. Google recommends its own Calendar app as the easiest way to keep events in sync.
