Every answer to your Google Form is saved in the form. You can read the answers there, or send them to a Google Sheet to sort, filter and share them.

## See the answers

The **Responses** tab shows how many answers you have and a summary of each question.

1. Open the form in [Google Forms](https://forms.google.com).
2. Click the **Responses** tab at the top.
3. Choose how to view the answers:
   - **Summary**: charts and totals for each question.
   - **Question**: all answers to one question.
   - **Individual**: one person's full set of answers. Use the arrows to move between them.

The **Summary** tab only appears after the first response arrives.

## Send the answers to a Google Sheet

A linked Sheet gets a new row for every response, which makes it easy to sort, filter and share the data.

1. On the **Responses** tab, click **Link to Sheets**.
2. Choose **Create a new spreadsheet**, or **Select existing spreadsheet** to add the answers to a file you already have.
3. Click **Create** or **Select**.

To work with the data, see [sort, filter & chart your data](/sheets-filters-charts/). Collaborators on the form get access to a new response spreadsheet automatically, but later sharing changes do not sync between the two files.

## More options for responses

The three dots on the **Responses** tab hold the other response tools.

- **Get email notifications for new responses**: an email for every new answer.
- **Select destination for responses**: change or reconnect the linked spreadsheet.
- **Unlink form**: stop sending new answers to the spreadsheet. Answers already there stay.
- **Download responses (.csv)**: a file you can open in Excel.
- **Print all responses**
- **Delete all responses**: this cannot be undone, so download a copy first.

## Stop accepting responses

Close the form when a registration or promotion ends. People who open it then see a message that it is closed.

1. Click **Published** at the top right.
2. Turn off **Accepting responses**.
3. Click **Save**.

To close the form automatically, click **Set close date or response limit** in the same box. Choose a date and time, or a maximum number of responses. You can also change the message people see when the form is closed.

To open the form again, turn **Accepting responses** back on.

## Common issues

### I removed a colleague from the form, but they can still see the answers. Why?

The linked Google Sheet has its own sharing. Remove the person from the form and from the spreadsheet separately, using Share in each file.

### I deleted the linked spreadsheet by mistake. Are the answers lost?

No. The answers are still stored in the form. Go to Responses, click the three dots and choose Select destination for responses to create a new spreadsheet. You can also restore the old one from the Drive Trash.

### Can I get an email every time someone submits the form?

Yes. On the Responses tab, click the three dots and choose Get email notifications for new responses.
