# Mailbox full: free up space

> Free up space when your mailbox is full by clearing old emails and attachments, or ask your domain admin to raise your quota.

Delete emails you no longer need, empty **Deleted Items** and **Junk Email**, and if that is still not enough, ask your domain admin for more space. On Google Workspace, see [Google Workspace storage full](/workspace-storage-full/) instead.

## Free up space

1. [Log in to webmail](/log-in/).
2. Empty **Deleted Items** and **Junk Email**. The emails inside still count toward your mailbox until you do.
3. Look through your **Inbox**, **Sent Items** and other folders for large emails with attachments. Open each one, save the attachment to your computer, then delete the email.
4. Empty **Deleted Items** again so the emails you just deleted are actually removed.

## Still full?

1. Ask your domain admin to raise your **Mailbox Size Limit**, as shown in [Change display name and mailbox quota](/edit-mailbox/). To see what is using the space, including **File Storage**, see [See what is using your mailbox space](/storage-usage-reports/).
2. The total space for all users depends on your package. If it is used up, your admin can contact support on WhatsApp at [+60 16-916 3324](https://wa.me/60169163324) to upgrade.

> **Caution**
> Emptying **Deleted Items** removes those emails for good. If you are not sure yet, see [Recover a deleted email](/recover-deleted/).

## Common issues

### Will I lose incoming mail while my mailbox is full?

You will not lose mail that already arrived, but new mail sent to you may be rejected. The sender usually gets a bounce - see Understand a bounce message (/bounce-message/).

### I delete emails often. Why is my mailbox still full?

Deleted emails still count toward your space until you empty Deleted Items, and Junk Email counts too. Empty both, not just your Inbox.

### Can I raise my own mailbox size?

No. Only your domain admin can raise your Mailbox Size Limit. See Change display name and mailbox quota (/edit-mailbox/).
