Google Slides is a presentation app that runs in your browser. You can build slides with your team and present straight from the browser.

## Create a presentation

Start a new presentation from the Slides home screen or from Google Drive.

1. Go to [slides.google.com](https://slides.google.com) and click the blank presentation under **Start a new presentation**. In [Google Drive](https://drive.google.com), you can also click **New** > **Google Slides**.
2. If a panel with ideas and templates opens, pick one or click **Blank slide**.
3. Click **Untitled presentation** at the top left, type a name and press **Enter**.
4. Click **New slide** in the toolbar (or press **Ctrl + M**) to add slides.

Use **Slide** > **Change theme** to give all slides the same fonts and colours. To share the file with colleagues, click **Share**, just like in [Google Docs](/docs-create-share-edit/).

## Add speaker notes

Speaker notes are reminders that only you see while presenting.

1. Click the slide you want to add notes to.
2. Click in the box under the slide that says **Click to add speaker notes**.
3. Type your notes.

## Present full screen

Use this when you do not need your notes on screen.

1. Click **Slideshow** at the top right. The slides fill the screen from the current slide.
2. Use the arrow keys, or click the arrows at the bottom, to move between slides.
3. Press **Esc** to stop presenting.

To start from the first slide, click the down arrow next to **Slideshow** and choose **Start from beginning**, or press **Ctrl + Shift + F5**.

## Present with presenter view

Presenter view shows your notes and a timer in a separate window, while the audience sees only the slides.

1. Click the down arrow next to **Slideshow**.
2. Choose **Presenter view**.
3. A second window opens with a timer and your notes on the **SPEAKER NOTES** tab. Use **Pause** and **Reset** to control the timer.
4. Move the slideshow to the projector or shared screen, and keep the notes window on your own screen.
5. Press **Esc** in the slideshow to finish.

With two monitors in Google Chrome, click the down arrow next to **Slideshow**, then **Presentation display options** to choose which screen shows the slides.

## Keyboard shortcuts while presenting

These keys work during a slideshow on Windows and Chrome.

- **S**: open speaker notes.
- **L**: turn the laser pointer on or off.
- **B** or **W**: show a black or white screen. Press any key to go back.
- A slide number, then **Enter**: jump to that slide.
- **Home** or **End**: go to the first or last slide.

## Common issues

### My audience can see my speaker notes. How do I hide them?

Use presenter view, which opens your notes in a separate window. With one screen, share only the slideshow tab in Meet, not your whole screen. With a projector or second monitor, move the notes window to your own laptop screen.

### How do I present Google Slides in a Google Meet call?

Share the tab with your slideshow using Share screen in Meet. See share your screen in Google Meet (/meet-share-screen/) for the steps.

### Can I present without internet?

Only if you set up offline access before you lose the connection. Open the file and click File > Make available offline while you are still online.
